~~~ Celebrating 10 years of original music, emerging art & diverse culture ~~~
The future of the Cayuga Vault has been in the balance for what seems like an eternity - since the building was put up for sale in the summer.
Finally, we have an answer:
as the Vault door closes … other doors will surely open.
The news: - it's been a crazy ride!
After weeks of soul-searching, uncertainty, brainstorming, surveys, news articles (Good Times article here), crossed signals and excited anticipation, we came very close, but were ultimately unable to negotiate a lease with the new building owner of 1100 Soquel Ave where Cayuga Vault has made its home for the last decade. We will close the Vault door for the last time at the end of December. Final concerts will be held the weekend of Dec 19th and 20th.
We would like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your support of original live music, emerging art and diverse culture here in Santa Cruz. It’s been an amazing adventure, an enormous pleasure and a great privilege to share so much with our community – you!
Infinite thanks to all the musicians, artists and teachers who have ever blessed the Cayuga Vault with their creative energies and a special thank you to those of you who filled out our survey and offered your support.
We will be hosting a pot luck Celebration / Wake / Goodbye Affair on Sunday Dec 20th from 1 – 4pm . Come and say goodbye, say a word, share a story, take your picture with our Vault door, leave a picture for our archives or just say hi. Please bring something yummy to share, your camera or video or what have you. Most of all we’d love to see you.
We also hope you can make it out to one of our last events:
Sat Dec 19 - Shimshai Solstice Concert
Sun Dec 20, 1-4pm - pot luck Celebration / Wake / Goodbye Affair for Cayuga Vault
Sun Dec 20, 7:30pm - Sacred Kirtan with the Mystic Jamms Band
